“I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake.” – Lewis Black.
Today is Day #9 of 13 straight days of work.
Some of you are probably wondering why I work so much and what is it exactly I do, and how long in one day do I work. And how do I have time to do anything else if I work that much? I’ve been asked, so I have all the answers.
I work about 8-9 hrs a day. Sometimes, it’s longer. Sometimes, it’s less. Someone when I’m finally not on campus, I am still working through phone calls and email that I get from those who are still on the hospital premises.
I am a nurse case manager. Basically, we make sure that the hospital is paid for its services, that the patient is getting the correct services, and that the insurance is getting all the correct information. I don’t personally take care of the patient anymore like I did before working in the post anesthesia care unit, but I like to think we’re still important when it comes to providing care and for being a patient and facility advocate.
Why do I work so much? I like my job. I actually do. It has its moments. It doesn’t produce the adrenaline that I used to feel being on the floor taking care of that patient that at any moment could have respiratory distress and have a code blue, but it’s still a bit stressful — just in a different way. I am one of those people who believe in work hard, play hard. I’m a realist. I’m practical. I also understand that in order to live a comfortable lifestyle and be able to do the things I want to do with my family and buy the things that I want for my family and I — I have to work. Two very important reasons behind it.
How do I have time for anything else? Well, sometimes, if you’re too focused on one thing, you get bored or burned out. I like to blog, write, focus on style & fashion, interact on social media as a way to break the monotony sometimes.
With that said, don’t you just love this tee that I found at Target? It was on clearance for $10.48, and hopefully, some of your local stores will still have it!
