My husband is a self-proclaimed watch aficionado. I mean, he really likes watches. My pre-wedding gift to him was a watch, and a lot of the birthdays, Christmases, and anniversaries after that as well. I know what you’re thinking — he probably has a lot of watches. He does. But he likes all of them equally, so when I told him about Jord (pronounced yode), he was very intrigued about seeing unique men’s watches. The one watch that his collection is lacking is a men’s wooden watch. His eyes lit up when I showed him the choices, and he was even more excited when it arrived.
I was quite surprised at the weight of the watch. When someone says “wood watch,” in my head I’m thinking about the weight. But it’s very lightweight. They use different types of wood from acacia to rosewood to kosso. The glass on the watch is sapphire glass, and it is the second only to the diamond as the hardest and scratch resistant materials on earth.
The watch hubs is wearing is from the men’s Hyde series and is a mix of kosso wood and gray, aptly named “Kosso & Gray.” It is priced reasonably at $219. The wood is treated to be splash proof, and it has a Citizen Miyota quartz movement. Their watches start in the low $100s and can go upward to the $400s, depending on the make and design of the item.
After doing this shoot with the other half, I have serious watch envy. Who knows? Maybe I’ll just borrow it once in a while or maybe get my own in the future. They do have a women’s wooden watch collection with a lot more cool watches to choose from. But for now, I am recommending that you do, in fact, take a look at their website to see if something catches your eye.
